About Judd

I started editing VHS to VHS soccer highlight videos when I was in high school and continued editing in college.  In 1996, after I graduated from Colgate University, I interned at Henninger Media in Arlington, Virginia.   Henninger had just created their non-linear AVID editing department and training school.  As an assistant editor, I edited daily promos for the Discovery Channel and assisted on the Bob Dole presidential campaign.  I also helped run the AVID training school.

In 1997, PVS Speer, a production house located in downtown DC, hired me.   After two years, I was promoted to editor.  For almost five years, my main client at PVS was Health Week, a half hour weekly medical news-magazine show that aired on PBS.  As a young editor, I quickly learned about fast turnarounds, working with a variety of producers, and how to create a show from concept to the final on-air product.  After Health Week ended, I ventured out into the freelance world.

Over the past 25 plus years, I’ve worked on a variety of projects from PSAs and corporate videos to long form documentaries.  I worked for 2 years with National Geographic editing daily and series promos.  Over the past 5 years the majority of my time has been spent working on television series for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, DIY, The Food Network, The Food Network, History Channel, TLC, and HGTV.

I’ve participated in multiple 48hr film competitions and have worked on many independent films that have shown in local and national festivals.  In addition, I have been producing, filming, and editing video podcasts for the rock band Rocknoceros.
